The short answer

Software for field service management helps a business that sends workers to customers' sites plan jobs, dispatch crews and bill for the work. On 2 November 2026 Housecall Pro listed Basic at US$59 a month billed annually, Essentials at US$149 and Max at US$299. ServiceTitan listed three packages and said "Our per-technician pricing is designed to fit your business and goals, at any size." It showed "Request Pricing" instead of a price. 2 3

What field service software does

Wikipedia describes field service management as "the management of a company's resources employed at or en route to the property of clients, rather than on company property." Put simply: you have people driving to jobs, and you need to keep track of them. 1

The software side covers the same ground. Wikipedia lists "scheduling and route optimization, GPS navigation and time tracking, parts-inventory management, and invoicing" as common capabilities. It adds that this software "is typically used on mobile devices", so a technician can see job details in the field. 1

For a small plumbing, HVAC, electrical or cleaning business, that usually means one tool for the calendar, the job list, the quote and the invoice. This page isn't tax or legal advice. It only shows what two makers list.

Housecall Pro: three plans with users included

Housecall Pro listed Basic, Essentials and Max on 2 November 2026. Prices were in US dollars, and the page said they're "exclusive of sales tax". 2

- Basic: US$59 a month billed annually, or US$79 a month on monthly billing. It lists "1 user included". 2 - Essentials: US$149 a month billed annually, or US$189 monthly. It lists "5 users included". 2 - Max: US$299 a month billed annually, or US$329 monthly. It lists "8 users included" and "*$35/mo per additional user". 2

Basic lists "Scheduling & dispatch" and "Job costing". Job costing means matching what a job cost you to what you charged. Essentials adds items such as "Routes" and "Employee GPS tracking". 2

The page also offered a trial: "Try 14 days free. No credit card required. Cancel anytime." Intro discounts for new customers appeared on the page too, so the first month can cost less than the prices above. 2

ServiceTitan: packages without a posted price

ServiceTitan listed three packages on 2 November 2026: Starter, Essentials and The Works. Each showed a "Request Pricing" button rather than a dollar figure, so a price needs a conversation with the maker. 3

The page says "Our per-technician pricing is designed to fit your business and goals, at any size." That means the cost depends on how many technicians you have. It doesn't say what any package costs. 3

All three packages list "Dispatching", "Scheduling", "Invoicing" and "Mobile Estimates". Starter and Essentials list "Payroll Management", while The Works lists "Configurable Payroll". If payroll is on your list, ask what it covers and where your accountant fits in. 3

Questions to ask before you choose

Price pages only go so far. Ask these during any free trial or demo. 2

- How many people need a login? Housecall Pro lists "1 user included" on Basic and "5 users included" on Essentials. Extra users on Max are "*$35/mo per additional user". 2 - Is the price posted? Housecall Pro posts monthly prices. ServiceTitan shows "Request Pricing", so ask for a written quote. 2 3 - Does the plan you need include job costing and routes? On Housecall Pro they sit on different plans. 2 - Can you run one real week of jobs through it? Enter your actual customers and see whether dispatch feels natural. - Does it connect to your books? Our guide to accounting software for construction shows how makers list job-level profit, and the same question applies to a trades business. - How does it handle shift planning? Field crews and kitchen crews are different, but our restaurant staff scheduling guide shows how scheduling tools are priced.

We haven't used either product. Your trial is the test.
